Scouting Report
- Coming off its first loss since 2014, the Dukes look to rebound Friday night against Northeastern. All-time against the Huskies, JMU is 15-1 after winning the first meeting this season 77-55 in Boston. Northeastern has never won at the Convo.
- Last time out, Hofstra jumped on the Dukes from the start and though JMU put together a strong comeback down the stretch in the second half, it was not enough to overcome the 17-point deficit early on and fell 63-62. Junior guard Precious Hall led the Dukes with 26 points. Redshirt-junior guard Jazmon Gwathmey finished with 11 and junior guard Angela Mickens notched 10 in the loss.
- Earlier this week, Mickens was named to the list of the final 15 players up for the Lieberman Award, which honors the best point guard in the country. She ranks fourth nationally with 7.5 assists per game and 11th nationally with a 2.68 assist-to-turnover ratio. She has dished out 196 assists this season, the second-highest total for a single season in JMU history, and 388 assists in her career, ninth on the all-time JMU career assists chart.
- Northeastern comes in having lost each of its last 10 games. The Huskies last pulled out a win on Jan. 16 against UNCW in Boston. It's the only win in conference action for Northeastern.
- Three players average double figures for the Huskies, led by Samantha DeFreese at 13.6 points per game. A'lece Mark is posting 12.5 points per contest thus far while Tiffany Montagne is averaging 12.2 points per game.
- Last time these two met, JMU had four players in double figures while freshman guard Hailee Barron notched a career-high 10 points, going 3-of-4 from long range. DeFreese led all scorers in the contest with 20 points.
