Morgan Cox matched her career-best round on Tuesday afternoon, pacing the James Madison women's golf team as it wrapped up play at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic, hosted by College of Charleston at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

Cox collected three birdies in her first eight holes on her way to a 2-over 70 that moved her up 14 spots to finish in a tie for 103rd (78-80-74=232) at the 232-player event. As a team, the Dukes matched their Monday performance, shooting their second consecutive round of 312 to finish tied for 29th out of 43 teams.

Laura Gomez-Ruiz continued her week of strong finishes, firing 12 pars across her final 12 holes to end the day at 4-over 76. Her final round kept her in a tie for 39th at 8-over 224, the best finish of any JMU competitor on the week.

Maddisen Cox joined her classmate in the top 80, taking home a tie for 79th after finishing her week at 13-over 229 (75-74-80), while sophomore
Katie Turk (84-84-82=250) and junior
Gabrielle Weiss (83-87-84=254) closed out the JMU scoring in ties for 206th and 217th, respectively.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS
Coastal Carolina fired a 2-under 286 on Tuesday to hold onto the team championship by one stroke with a final score of 6-over 870, despite second-place College of Charleston and third-place Southern Mississippi firing rounds of 9-under 279 and 8-under 280, respectively.

Charleston's Laura Fuenfstueck took home medalist honors, maintaining her two-day lead with a 2-under 70 on Tuesday that put her two strokes clear of second place with a tournament total of 8-under 208.

The Dukes will be back in action from Friday, March 17-Sunday, March 19, when they head to Augusta, Ga. to take part in the 3M Augusta Invitational. Hosted by Augusta University, the three-day event will be held at Forest Hills Golf Club, with live scoring provided at GolfStat.com.
