AUGUSTA, Ga. - Junior 
Maddisen Cox fired a 4-over 76 on Sunday afternoon to lead the James Madison women's golf team as the Dukes closed out the 3M Augusta Invitational in 12th place.
 
Cox closed her tournament on a tear, birdieing four of her final six holes to bounce back from a slow start and match her first-round score of 76, putting her at 8-over 224 for the weekend. The performance boosted her a pair of spots on the leaderboard, as she closed her weekend tied for 18th out of 78 competitors to earn her fifth top-20 finish in seven tournaments.
 
As a team, the Dukes shot a 322, dropping to 12th at the 14-team tournament and finishing the weekend at 64-over 928, just three shots behind 11th-place Virginia Tech.
 
Junior 
Laura Gomez-Ruiz finished tied for 26th, closing her weekend with an 82 to wind up at 11-over 227, while freshman 
Lauren Comegys shot a final-round 81 to wrap up her tournament in a tie for 58th at 237. Freshman 
Morgan Cox (t-67; 243) and junior 
Gabrielle Weiss (74; 247) closed out the JMU scores with final rounds of 86 and 83, respectively.

The Dukes will be back on the course in eight days, when they head to Williamsburg, Va. to compete in the William & Mary Intercollegiate at Kingsmill Resort on Mon. March 27-Tues. March 28.
