West Point, Miss. - James Madison women's golf tied for 10th place at The Ally, hosted by Mississippi State at the par 72, 6,240-yard Old Waverly Golf Club.
The tournament, planned for three days and 54 holes, was shortened due to illness amongst the competing teams. Results were made final through two days and 36 holes of competition. The Dukes finished in a tie with fellow Sun Belt Conference member Georgia Southern.
Emerson Elm led the way for the Dukes, finishing in a tie for 23rd place after shooting 3-over 147. From round one to round two, she went from 4-over 76 to 1-under 71 and moved up 27 positions on the leaderboard.
Avery Robinson made her season debut and tallied the single-best hole of the tournament for JMU when she sank a hole-in-one on the par-3 hole 12 during round one. The only competitor to sink an eagle during the tournament, she finished in a tie for 53rd place at 8-over 152 (76-76).
JMU is back in action Oct. 16-18 at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, taking place at the Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.
