Greenville, N.C. - James Madison women's golf placed ninth out of 13 teams in the 2026 Pirate Collegiate Classic, hosted by Eastern Carolina University Sept. 14-15 at the Greenville Country Club.

A challenging weekend on the links, the Dukes finished at a 21-over 886 at the par-72, 5,974 yard course. All but the top three teams of the field finished above par for the 54-hole competition.

Bella Flores, competing as an individual, topped the scorecard for the Dukes at a 4-under 212 to tie for sixth place. This included a career-best third round as the junior shot a 5-under 67.

In the team scoring, Grace Petzold shot an even 216 to tie for 19th place out of the 78-person field.

JMU is back on the course on Monday, Oct. 5 for the Ally at Old Waverly. The three-day tournament, hosted by Mississippi State, takes place at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Miss.

Tournament Notes

Bella Flores posted a career-best 67 (-5) in the third round. This is the third-lowest round total in JMU history and seventh time overall a Duke has carded a single-round 67 or lower. Coming in at 5-under par is tied for the 3rd-lowest round to par in JMU history, the fifth time overall such a mark has been reached.
Flores' 212 total score is tied for the seventh lowest 54-hole total in program history (14th overall time with a 212 or lower).
Flores finished tied for sixth place, the second top-10 finish of her career.
Grace Petzold notched her 27th career finish in the top 25, tying for 19th place. She has placed in the top 20 in both tournaments this fall.
As a team, JMU led the field in pars (171). Emerson Elm was tied for second in the tournament, shooting par on 38 of 54 holes.
