HARRISONBURG, Va. – On Sunday, Feb. 3, James Madison Athletics will celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day to encourage local girls to engage in physical activity, foster teamwork and a healthy lifestyle. The event will be held in Sinclair Gymnasium at Godwin Hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Â
This service event brings the Harrisonburg community together with JMU's female student-athletes to showcase the positive results sports can achieve. Members from various JMU women's teams will be present to guide participants through various stations involving drills for their sports. Additionally, the girls will have a chance to hear from coaches and student-athletes about the impact sports have had on their lives.
Â
Registration is available now, and the clinic is open to all girls currently in kindergarten through eighth grade. The $10 registration fee covers admission to the clinic, a game ticket to women's basketball vs. Towson that day at 2 p.m. Girls who are registered by January 25 will also receive a free event t-shirt. Parents can register their children online at JMUTickets.com. Registration will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 1.
