HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison volleyball completed a sweep of Northeastern with a 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-21) victory at Godwin Hall on Sunday.
JMU improved to 15-5 overall and 9-3 in the Colonial Athletic Association, remaining tied for first place in the league standings, while Northeastern fell to 11-11 overall and 7-5 in league play.
Junior
Sophia Davis surpassed 200 kills on the season, leading JMU with 16 on a .545 hitting percentage. Junior
Caroline Dozier tallied 36 assists and added 10 digs. Senior
Savannah Marshall led on defense with 16 digs and added eight assists.

JMU's last five victories have all been sweeps, and the Dukes have won 17 of their last 20 sets played.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
The Dukes used a 5-0 run to pull ahead 12-8. Northeastern fought back to tie the set at 14, before JMU went on a 3-0 run to regain the lead at 17-14. Up 19-18, the Dukes won six of the last seven points to win 25-19, with all six points finished off by kills. Four different Dukes had multiple kills in the opening set.
Second Set
JMU trailed for most of the set, and came back to tie Northeastern seven different times. Down 21-18, the Dukes went on a 4-0 run to take a 22-21 lead. After the Huskies avoided two set points to tie the set at 24, kills by Davis and junior
Chloe Wilmoth wrapped up a 26-24 come from behind victory.
Third Set
Although the Huskies erased a series of early JMU leads, the Dukes took 11 of 16 points to build a 20-15 lead. Northeastern went on a 4-0 lead to cut the lead to one, but the Dukes won six of the final eight points to wrap up the match in a 25-21 triumph. Davis had three kills and a block assist in JMU's final four points.
UP NEXT
The Dukes will welcome defending CAA champion Towson to Harrisonburg for a pair of matches on Nov. 6 and 7. Saturday's match will begin at 11 a.m. ET and Sunday's match will begin at 1 p.m., with both matches streamed on FloSports. Both teams are tied for first, and these matches will have significant implications on who wins the regular season conference title.
