RICHMOND, Va. – The James Madison swimming & diving team fell in a dual meet against Richmond, 158-139, on Friday afternoon at Robins Center Natatorium.
The Dukes fall to an overall record of 4-3. JMU placed in every event in the meet, winning five events.
How It Happened

Abi White scored a 284.04 in the 3-meter to take first place and become the third JMU diver this season to qualify for the NCAA Zone Championships in the 3-meter.
Lindsey Hammar (277.58) and
Alexa Holloway (274.80) finished second and third to give the Dukes a sweep of the event.

Maddie Yager recorded her fourth NCAA Zone qualifying score of the season in the 1-meter, taking first with a score of 270.15. Hammar (259.73), Holloway (256.20),
Felicity Ryan (242.78),
Lexi Lehman (242.55), and White took the next five spots for the clean sweep.
- The 400 Medley Relay team of
Cameron Gring,
Madison Cottrell,
Morgan Whaley, and
Jordyn Schnell started the swimming portion off with a second-place finish with a time of 3:53.04.

Abby Maguire picked up her first career win, as she swam a time of 10:33.12 in the 1000 Free.
Erin Jachym finished fourth with a time of 10:45.03.

Grace Bousum placed in three different events throughout the meet, finishing second in the 200 Free (1:54.44) and 400 IM (4:28.18) and third in the 100 Fly (57.92).
- Placing twice individually in the meet, Cottrell took second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:05.70) and third in the 200 Breaststroke (2:21.95).

Jess Pryne continued her impressive season, finishing first in the 500 Free (%;07.76) and 400 IM (4:28.18) and second in the 200 Fly (2:06.24). Whaley placed in the 200 Fly behind Pryne with a time of 2:09.67.
- Swimming in the 50 and 100 Frees, Schnell placed third with a time of 24.18 and second with a time of 52.05, respectively.
- Gring picked up her fourth win of the season in the 200 Back, swimming a time of 2:04.76, as
Lauren Aylmer also finished third in the event with a time of 2:05.34.
- The Dukes took second and third in the 200 Free Relay. The team of Cottrell,
Alaina Park, Schnell, and Gring finished with a time of 1:35.61 while
Karen Siddoway,
Emily Drakopoulos,
Devan Taylor, and
Sydni Diehl swam a 1:38.36.

"Disappointed we couldn't swim better to get the win, but all credit to Richmond. They raced so tough and closed really well in their races. They got a lot of touches that made the difference in the meet. Our divers performed well and provided a great boost for us as always."

The swimmers will be back in the pool next weekend, as they take part in the UVA Invitational from Friday, Feb 4 to Sunday, Feb 6. The divers will be competing that same weekend, as they host the Duke Dog Diving Invite Saturday and Sunday, Feb.5-6 at Savage Natatorium.
