CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. -- James Madison battled hard in the cold rain against No. 13 Syracuse but ultimately fell to the Orange in overtime, 2-1.

JMU saw its five-game winning streak come to an end and sit at 7-4 overall. Syracuse improves to 10-2 (2-1 ACC), winning six of its last seven contests

Senior Diede Remijnse scored the lone goal of the game, converting on a penalty stroke. Junior Brandelynn Heinbaugh started in net for the Dukes, making six big saves through over 66 minutes of action.

How It Happened

After a scoreless first quarter, Remijnse broke the seal with a penalty stroke goal late in the second period to give JMU a lead heading into halftime.
Syracuse capitalized on a penalty corner opportunity with less than a minute remaining in the third quarter to make it 1-1.
Heinbaugh came up with three major saves in the final quarter to send the game into overtime.
The Orange applied offensive pressure, scoring the final goal off a rebound for the victory.

Game Notes

The Orange recorded more shots (16-13), shots on goal (8-5), and penalty corners (11-5).
Remijnse remains the team's leader in goals (8) and points (16).
Heinbaugh has made 13 saves in the past two games, the most games in a two-game stretch in her career.
The all-time series between the schools is tied at 1-1 since 1995.
JMU's defense has not given up more than two goals in a game since Sept. 4 when it lost to No. 12 Virginia in overtime, 3-2.

"I'm incredibly proud of the performance of our team today," said Morgan. "It could have gone either way at the end and we just fell short! Work rate, grit, and the fight was there! We have grown so much this year! We will learn from this and be ready for our next top-five challenge."
