THE DUKES
- James Madison will head to Philadelphia for the Hawk Classic, on Dec. 20-21, hosted by Saint Joseph's. First, JMU will face EMU at 3 p.m. on Tuesday before playing SJU or Wright State the following day. All games will stream on ESPN+.
- The Dukes are coming off a 57-52 road win at Hampton on Dec. 17. JMU trailed by four early in the fourth quarter, but closed the game on a 5-0 run.
- Junior Annalicia Goodman led the team in scoring with 13 points, shooting 5-of-6 (83.3%) from the floor in her first appearance this season. The forward also pulled down four boards and recorded a block in her season debut.
- Four Dukes score in double figures: Goodman (13), junior Peyton McDaniel (11), junior Jamia Hazell (10), and senior Kiki Jefferson (10). The offensive efforts marked the second game in a row in which four Dukes have reached double-digits in points.
- James Madison's bench outscored the Lady Pirates 30-4 in the win. For JMU, its bench has outperformed opponents 109-39 over the last three games.
- The Dukes rank in the top 30 nationally in four categories: rebound margin (6th - +13.0), field goal percentage defense (21st - 34.3), rebounds per game (23rd - 44.2) and defensive rebounds per game (26th - 29.9).
- The Dukes improved to 5-0 on the road this season, the best road start for the program since the 1995-96 season. In the 1973-74 campaign, JMU went a perfect 9-0 away from Harrisonburg, Va.
- McDaniel is 15th in the country in three-point percentage at 50.0% (27-of-54). Additionally, she has knocked down 13-of-22 (59.1%) over her last three outings.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- Eastern Michigan owns a 6-2 record, recently defeating Xavier 51-44 on Dec. 17.
- Sophomore guard Lachelle Austin has led the way for EMU, averaging 13.6 points per contest.
- With 6.1 blocks per game, Eastern boasts the eighth-best blocking unit in the nation. Freshman center Tayra Eke has tallied 18 rejections this season, including seven total in her last two games.
SERIES HISTORY
- JMU leads the all-time series versus EMU at 1-0.
- The Dukes hold a 3-2 advantage over Saint Joseph's, but fell 73-66 in their most recent meeting on Nov. 19, 2017.
- Wright State has a 1-0 edge against James Madison with a 79-77 victory on Dec. 1, 2013, at the Gulf Coast Showcase.
