PHILADELPHIA – James Madison softball racked up 18 hits and four home runs in their 11-4 win over Drexel Sunday afternoon at the Drexel Softball Field.

The Dukes improve to 21-21 (10-5 CAA) while the Dragons fall to 20-20 (4-11 CAA).

Hallie Hall notched her second two-homer game of the season while Lauren Bernett and Jasmine Hall each recorded a home run of their own. H. Hall and Bernett ended the day with four hits apiece to lead JMU.

Alexis Bermudez did not allow a hit until the bottom of the fifth. She pitched five innings for the Dukes and struck out four batters. Alissa Humphrey pitched the final two innings and struck out five batters, including all three batters in the bottom of the seventh.

An RBI double from H. Hall started off the first inning for JMU, followed by another RBI double by Bernett to take the Dukes up 2-0. Reed Butler rounded out the inning with a hit to left field to bring home Bernett and put JMU up 3-0 after one inning.

H. Hall brought in the next four runs in for the Dukes with homers in both the second and fourth innings. Hannah Shifflett hit a sac-fly to right field in the top of the fifth to bring in Hannah Hennessy, bringing the score to 8-0.

Drexel got on the board in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run homer, but Bernett swiftly responded in the top of the sixth with her ninth home run of the season. The Dragons added another run in the bottom of the sixth, but J. Hall sealed the win for the Dukes with a home run to center field in the final inning.

The Dukes will host Longwood in an evening doubleheader on Wednesday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Both games will be streamed on FloSoftball.
