Luca Nikolai represented James Madison men's soccer on the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region First Team, as the organization announced its all-region teams on Tuesday afternoon.

The first team selections are the first for the Dukes since 2020 and the first first team selections since joining the Southeast Region that coincided with the move to the Sun Belt Conference.

Conlon earns his first career all-region laurel, becoming the first JMU goalkeeper to earn an all-region nod since TJ Bush was named All-Atlantic First Team in 2020. The laurel adds to the Reston, Va. native's 2024 accolades of Sun Belt Goalkeeper of the Year and All-Sun Belt First Team. Logging 1687:23 minutes as he started in all 19 matches this season, Conlon had a goals against average of 0.85 as he made 62 saves with a .795 save percentage. He recorded seven shutouts in the season, improving his career total to 16 which sits tied for ninth in a JMU career. At the end of the regular season, Conlon led the league in save percentage and minutes plated, tied for the lead in shutouts, while ranking second in goals against average, tied for second in saves and third in shutouts per game.

Nikolai is tabbed to an all-region team for the first time in his career after being named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year and earning a nod to the All-Sun Belt First Team. He became the third player in program history to win a defensive major award and the first since Bush was named the CAA Defender of the Year in 2020. Beginning the season as a Preseason Third Team All-American by TopDrawerSoccer, he was ranked 20
th in the outlet's Midseason Top 100 list. The defender anchored a backline that ranked second in the Sun Belt in goals against average (.824), shutouts (eight) and goals allowed (14) at the end of the regular season. On the offensive side of the ball, he scored four goals and two assists, as he led all Sun Belt defenders in goals and was one of two to notch 10 points.
