POINT CLEAR, Ala. – The James Madison women's golf team wrapped up play at the 2024 Sun Belt Championship on Wednesday with a 10th-place finish out of 13 teams.
Amelia Williams was the Dukes top finisher at the Lakewood Course and its par-72, 6,106-yard layout, placing in a tie for 17th out of 59 players with a three-round score of 222 (+6). The senior carded a first-round 71 (-1) before posting a 74 and 77 in the final two rounds.
Kendall Turner (223, +7), finished a stroke behind Williams, recording rounds of 71-75-77.
Kayleigh Reinke (229, +13) opened her tournament with a 4-over 76 and 80 (+8) before rebounding with a final-round 73 (+1) to finish in 39th place. Sophomore
Maria Atwood managed a tie for 46th with a 54-hole gross of 235 (+19).
Tatum Walsh, who made the trip as the Dukes' substitute player, carded a 78 (+6) in the final round, while
Julia Zigrossi posted rounds of 79-81 in the first two rounds out of the No. 5 spot in the Dukes' lineup.
Texas State, Georgia Southern, ULM, and Old Dominion were the four teams to advance to the match-play portion of the Sun Belt Championship. The Bobcats finished stroke play in first place as the only team under par and 16 strokes ahead of Georgia Southern.
