JMU LOOKS FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN, HOSTS ODU SATURDAY
- James Madison, winners of three straight, host Old Dominion on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 4 p.m. inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center.Â
- This matchup will also renew the TowneBank Royal Rivalry, where the Dukes have won eight straight games against ODU.Â
- The Dukes moved past Coastal Carolina, 73-64, on Thursday night to win their third straight game and improve to 13-9 overall and 6-4 in the Sun Belt. Mark Freeman scored 29 points on 10-of-17 shooting to lead all players, and JMU finished with a season-low two turnovers.Â
- Old Dominion picked up its fourth Sun Belt road win on Wednesday, squeaking past App State 78-77 in Boone. The Monarchs are now 4-0 in road league games this season and 10-12 overall (6-4 SBC).Â

- JMU and Old Dominion have met 92 times since their first meeting on Jan. 14, 1972. Old Dominion holds a commanding 58-34 lead in the all-time series, but the Dukes have won eight straight against the Monarchs.Â
- The Dukes are 22-18 against ODU at home, their last loss coming to the Monarchs coming on Nov. 13, 2017 (69-53).Â

- Junior AJ Smith recorded a season-high 21 points as James Madison men's basketball picked up a road Sun Belt Conference win at Old Dominion, 74-60, on Wednesday night at Chartway Arena.
- Smith was one of four JMU (11-9, 4-4 SBC) players to reach double figures, as Mark Freeman (16), Bryce Lindsay (15), and Eddie Ricks III (11) all scored 10 or more.
- The Dukes shot a robust 54 percent (25-of-46) from the floor while holding Old Dominion (8-12, 4-4 SBC) to 32.7 percent (18-of-55) field goals and 3-of-19 from three.
- Along with his 21 points, Smith also corralled seven rebounds, tied for the team lead with Ricks III. As a team, JMU outrebounded ODU 34-27 and held the Monarchs to four assists and zero bench points
- Robert Davis Jr. paced Old Dominion with 23 points on 6-of-21 shooting as the Dukes held the Monarchs'Â leading scorer to 2-of-12 from the floor in the second half.

- Redshirt senior Mark Freeman scored 29 points to lead James Madison men's basketball to its third straight win, downing Coastal Carolina, 73-64, on Thursday evening at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
- Freeman's 29 points came on 10-of-17 shooting and was the third time the native of Memphis has scored 25 or more points this season. JMU (13-9, 6-4 SBC) finished with a season-low two turnovers and out-rebounded Coastal Carolina (8-14, 1-9 SBC) 34-31.
- Aiding in the scoring effort for the Dukes was Elijah Hutchins-Everett, who tallied 11 points and five rebounds. Xavier Brown and Bryce Lindsay added nine points each, while AJ Smith grabbed eight rebounds.
- Freeman is 21-of-35 from the floor (.571) in his past three games and has scored 10 or more points in four straight. In Sun Belt games, the native of Memphis is averaging 16.1 points per game.
- RaSheed Jones and Jordan Battle finished with 17 points to lead CCU, who finished with only five assists on 20 made field goals. Battle also led the Chanticleers with nine rebounds while adding nine points.
