Curt Dudley is the director of multimedia communications at JMU and his role entails the traditional responsibilities of a sports information director as well as developing radio programming, assisting with commercial broadcasts and ultimately employing creative ways of using new media as it evolves into multimedia. He utilizes direct multimedia methods to distribute information about the sports teams, one of which being the exciting and popular MadiZONE HD SportsNet, which has been among the collegiate leaders in live online video productions.
Dudley is also in charge of the MadiZONE media team which consists of JMU interns, practicums and volunteers who assist in producing the video and audio content for the channel. The program was initiated in 2012 and is in conjunction with students enrolled in the sports communication minor. MadiZONE produces about 75 live events per year, which will continue to increase and features commentary, HD productions, multiple camera angles, graphics and replay.  He is an instructor in the sports communications minor at JMU, teaching a broadcasting techniques class each spring.Â
Before his current role at JMU, Dudley was an assistant sports information director at the university from 1988-2006. He served as the primary contact for baseball, men's cross country and indoor track and field, wrestling, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's tennis and volleyball. Â He was the secondary contact for football and men's basketball.Â
Prior to coming to JMU, he was the sports information director at Bridgewater College from 1980-1988, developing the foundation for what became the first full-time SID position at his alma mater. He was also a part-time announcer for Gilmore and then Verstandig Broadcasting during that same time period.
Dudley earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 1983 from Bridgewater College and studied the equivalency to a biology minor. Â He is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America, the Virginia Sports Information Directors and the Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. He assisted the Valley Baseball League during its transition into the computer statistical age when he served as the league's media and public relations director beginning in 1993. Â
In the summer, he is the public address voice for the Harrisonburg Turks, a collegiate summer baseball team in the Valley League. Dudley began working for the Turks in 1983 and took over responsibility as the public address announcer and press box manager in 1987.  He supervises a team of students who help with various aspects of the Turks organization.Â
He resides in Bridgewater with his wife, Maureen, and they have one daughter, Laura, who is a Virginia Tech graduate. Â He enjoys kayak fishing and growing vegatables durning the offseason.Â
