Dukes Down Robert Morris and Bucknell on Day One of Hokie Invite

SALEM, Va.- James Madison softball pitching held opponents to two runs on seven hits in 14 innings of work, as the offense handled business in a 2-1 victory against Robert Morris and a 6-1 defeat of Bucknell, on day one of the Hokie Invite at the Moyer Softball Complex on Friday Night.
Madalyn Johnson and Payton List combined to hold Robert Morris (2-3) to just one run in game one, striking out five. List earned her third consecutive victory for JMU (5-7) in the circle and has lowered her season ERA to 0.91.
Kirsten Fleet dominated Bucknell (4-6) in game two, holding the Bison to just one run on two hits in seven innings, her third career complete game.
Offensively, Reed Butler and List had three hits on the day, with Butler tying a career-high on a three-hit performance against Bucknell. Kylee Gleason paced the Dukes with a three-RBI game, her first of the season.
Lexi Rogers contributed a pinch-hit home run to left field in game two to start James Madison's three-run top of the seventh. It was Rogers' first pinch-hit home run of her career and her first home run of the 2025 campaign.

Top of the Second Inning
- Robert Morris' Mary Brant singled up the middle to score the runner from third, giving the Colonials the early 1-0 lead
Bottom of the Second Inning
- Madison Edwards laced an opposite-field RBI single to score the runner from second to knot things up at one apiece
- After advancing two bases on the throw home, Edwards scored the Dukes' second run on a Lily Romero RBI groundout
JMU 6, Bucknell 1
Second Inning
- Gleason grounded out to second for an RBI, scoring Edwards from third
- The Dukes had two runners on second and third with one out for Gleason, who singled down the left field line to score them both, to give the Dukes a 3-0 advantage
- Bucknell's Brooke Popella sent a ball over the left field fence, cutting the JMU lead to 3-1
Seventh Inning
- Rogers delivered a pinch-hit solo home run to left field, bringing the lead back to three
- Cali Legzdin singled up the middle with a runner on second, to make it 5-1
- With two out and one on, Butler scored Legzdin with an RBI single, capping off the Dukes' three-run inning

- James Madison has won three straight games, their longest winning streak since winning eight in a row from April 12-20, 2024
- The Dukes recorded a season-high three stolen bases, with its last time coming against Marshall on April 13, 2024
- Edwards extended her on-base streak to seven straight contests, matching her career-best
- Gleason's three RBI game was the first of her career, she previously tied her career high of two against Jax State on Feb. 22
- Legzdin had 11 putouts at first base, the most by any Duke at any position this season
- Friday's game against Bucknell marked the 150th game played in Butler's career
