NEW YORK – For the fifth week in a row, James Madison women's basketball received votes in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, announced Monday afternoon. The Dukes also tallied seven points in the USA TODAY Sports Top 25 Women's Basketball Poll.
JMU earned seven points, placing them 32nd overall – ahead of Harvard (5), Fairfield (5) and Cal (3) – who all earned spots in the 2025 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.
The Dukes head into the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament with a 28-5 (18-0 SBC) overall record, winning 20 of their last 21 games. JMU's sole loss in that span was an 86-79 overtime contest against the second-seeded Arkansas State Red Wolves in the Sun Belt Tournament title game on March 10.
James Madison set a program record with 27 regular-season wins and was one of seven teams in Division I to go undefeated in league play. Additionally, the Dukes picked up 12 true road victories – tied for the most in the nation – including winning nine straight.
JMU ranks fourth nationally in defensive rebounds per game (30.5), fourth in three-point percentage defense (25.9), seventh in rebounds per game (43.06) and 11th in field goal percentage defense (36.0).
The first-seeded Dukes are set to host Davidson for the First Round of the WBIT on Thursday, March 20. Action inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.
