HARRISONBURG, Va. – For the second straight week, James Madison lacrosse has risen in the latest IWLCA Division I Poll, receiving the #11 ranking, as announced Monday morning.
This follows a 2-0 week for the Dukes, who played their final home games of the regular season, beating Liberty on Wednesday, 17-6, and South Florida on Saturday, 20-6.
The Dukes also sit 11th in the NCAA RPI and have faced five opponents in the top-10. JMU holds the third-highest position of any mid-major team in the country, only behind Princeton (fourth) and Yale (tenth), and the four setbacks this season have only been against top-10 teams. The Dukes are ranked 14th in the USA Lacrosse Division I Women's Top 20 this week.
JMU is now 11-4 on the season and remains the only team from the AAC ranked in the poll. The Dukes also clinched a share of the regular season championship after the win over South Florida on Saturday. Through five conference games, JMU sits atop the American in goals per game (18.26), goals allowed per game (6.20), draw controls per game (22.80), shots per game (39.80), and save percentage (.544).
#11 JMU will play its final game of the regular season this week, traveling to Greenville, N.C. to take on East Carolina on Saturday, April 26. Opening draw is set for noon and will be streamed on ESPN+.
