HARRISONBURG, Va. – The James Madison men's basketball program added another experienced transfer guard Wednesday, as Head Coach
Preston Spradlin announced the signing of Cliff Davis.
Davis joins the Dukes after spending the 2024-25 season at UT Rio Grande Valley. He also played at Northwestern State in 2023-24 after beginning his career at Chipola College. He will have one year to play with JMU.
"Cliff brings great experience, toughness and an elite shooting ability to this year's recruiting class," Spradlin said. "He's been a proven shooter that will make an immediate impact on our team this season. Fans will love not only watching him play but getting to know him off the court as well."

UT Rio Grande Valley (2024-25):
- Played in and started 30 games for UTRGV
- Averaged 12.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals per game
- Reached double figures 16 times, including five 20-point games
- Scored 42 points against College of Biblical Studies on Dec. 21, setting a program record with 14 three-pointers in the win
- The 14 made threes was the most by an NCAA Division I player in the last six years
- Made 98 threes last season, shooting 37.4 percent from behind the arc
Northwestern State (2023-24):
- Averaged 13.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while playing in 31 games and starting 24
- Scored in double figures 22 times, including seven with 20-plus and one 30-point game
- Season-high 30 pints against Southern-N.O. on Dec. 19, 2023, finishing 10-of-16 from behind the arc
- Shot 39.2 percent (93-of-207) from three, including seven games with five or more made threes
Chipola College (2021-23):
- Spent the first two seasons of his career at Chipola, playing in 49 games
- In 2022-23, averaged 5.3 points while playing in 28 games
- Named first-team all-conference and all-state as a sophomore after averaging 10.9 points per game
- Scored 21 points against East Georgia State College on Dec. 31, 2022
