BIRMINGHAM, England – James Madison track & field alumna
Holly Mpassy ('25) has been selected to represent Great Britain in the 4x400-meter relay at the European U23 Athletics Championships in Bergen, Norway, July 17-20, as announced by British Athletics.
Mpassy was a staple for the Dukes' 4x400-meter relay teams, helping record five top-10 program times in the event, including the No. 2 time in program history of 3:41.54 set at the 2023 Raleigh Relays.
At the 2025 Sun Belt Outdoor Championship, Mpassy received the final handoff of the 4x400-meter relay in seventh and powered her way to third with a 52.41 split – the fastest by any anchor leg in the competition – to finish in a season-best 3:42.53 for bronze. The senior also set the school record earlier that day in the 400-meter dash (53.23) and helped JMU place eighth in the 4x100-meter relay (45.53).

This will be the 15th edition of the championships and will be the first time the competition has been held in Norway. The European Athletics U23 Championships were introduced in 1997, ostensibly to facilitate the transition between the U20 and senior ranks.
