MILWAUKEE, Wis. – James Madison fell to Marquette 21-25, 16-25, 22-25 on Saturday evening in non-conference volleyball action at Al McGuire Arena.

JMU (3-5) struggled to keep Marquette (4-2) in check, as the Golden Eagles finished with a .396 hitting percentage while committing only six errors.

Kennedy Louisell led the Dukes' attack with 15 kills, hitting .406 (15-2-32). Freshman
Ana Toumazatos registered seven kills, while
Ayen Nhial hit .444 with six kills.
Julia McNeley led JMU with 13 digs, while
Grace Wenrich tallied 15 assists to lead the Dukes.

Natalie Ring led the Golden Eagles with 16 kills and a .485 hitting percentage, recording zero errors on 33 swings. Marquette added five service aces and seven blocks, with Hattie Bray leading the Golden Eagles with five total blocks.

How It Happened
First Set: Marquette 25-21
- It was tight throughout the set, but Marquette used a 3-1 run to go ahead 19-16 and make JMU burn a timeout.
- The Golden Eagles scored on the next three rallies to balloon their advantage to 22-16. JMU trimmed the deficit to three (23-20), but a kill from Ella Holmstrom closed out the first.

Second Set: Marquette 25-16
- JMU used both of its timeouts early in the set as Marquette jumped out to a 12-6 lead.
- Marquette's lead grew to 21-11 on a kill from Natalie Ring, and the Golden Eagles closed out a dominant set two win.

Third Set: Marquette 25-22
- A 4-0 run for Marquette gave the home team an 11-7 lead and made JMU call a timeout.
- The Dukes clawed back to tie the score at 13-13 on a kill from Louisell.
- Marquette edged ahead 20-17, but three straight from JMU evened the set at 20-20.
- A kill from Nhial tied the score at 22-22, but Marquette rattled off three straight kills to end the set and secure the match victory.

- JMU dropped to 0-2 against Marquette.
- Louisell finished with 15 kills with a hitting percentage of .406. Through eight matches, the junior leads JMU in kills with 154 and a hitting percentage of .349.
- Louisell finished with just two errors on 32 swings – the sixth time this season the outside hitter has recorded less than five errors on at least 30 attempts.
