WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior captains Skyler Brown and Alice Roeper both recorded two goals and an assist in James Madison field hockey's convincing 4-1 win at American on Sunday afternoon at the Jacobs Complex.

How It Happened
- The Eagles gained possession in JMU territory, where Reicher found Willemse on the right post for the opening goal at the 13:15 mark of the first.
- With under two minutes remaining in the second quarter, following a yellow card on Willemse, Brown connected with Roeper off a reset, whose shot trickled through the American defense to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the break.
- Late in the third, the Dukes cashed in on a penalty corner when Brown collected a rebound off a Puck Jansen shot and sent it over the American goalkeeper for the 2-1 advantage.
- Brown scored on yet another corner, this time misdirecting a shot from Roeper in front to make it 3-1 at the 11:16 mark of the final frame.
- Less than three minutes later, on a rush in the circle, Molier passed back to Hill, who dished to Roeper on the back pipe for the easy tap-in to build a commanding 4-1 JMU lead.
Game Notes
- The Dukes held an advantage in shots (17-5), shots on goal (12-2) and penalty corners (4-3).
- Brown and Roeper's goals marked the first time JMU has had multiple players score multiple goals in the same game since Tori Carawan (4), Mia Julian (4) and Roeper (2) all found the back of the net in a 14-0 win versus Queens (N.C.) on Nov. 4, 2023.
- Additionally, Brown is the first Duke to be credited with a game-winning goal in consecutive games since last season when Roeper was the hero against Central Michigan (Sept. 27) and Queens (N.C.) (Sept. 29).
- Roeper's two-goal game marked her first multi-goal performance since posting two scores versus No. 18 Liberty on Oct. 29, 2024.
- Through five games, Hill has matched her assist total from the 2024 campaign with four.
