NEW ORLEANS -- After a 1-0 clean sheet victory over Coastal Carolina,
Erik Jaspers has been tabbed as the SBC Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday morning.
The weekly conference honor is Jaspers' second of his career and comes off the heels of the netminder's fourth shutout of the season and second in Sun Belt play. Jaspers notched another clean sheet under his belt Friday afternoon, holding the Chanticleers off the scoreboard and making five saves, his second most in a single game this season.
Shutting out opposing offenses is nothing new for Jaspers and the Dukes' defense as the Saratoga Springs, Utah native is the only goalkeeper in the SBC with multiple clean sheets in league play, doing so in a 1-0 win over UCF on Sept. 18. Following the conference-opening victory, Jaspers was named SBC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season.Â
Jaspers has been one of the top goalies in the Sun Belt Conference in 2026, allowing only one goal through three games of SBC play, the fewest by any keeper in the league. Additionally, the fourth year netminder leads the league with a .929 save percentage and 0.33 goals allowed per game in SBC play. Overall, Jaspers is ranks second in the conference in saves (36) and save percentage (.783) while being third in saves per game (3.60).Â
