HARRISONBURG, Va. – Joshua Beadle hit a jumper with 0.9 seconds left to lift Coastal Carolina over James Madison men's basketball, 69-68, on Friday night at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
JMU finished the regular season with a 17-14 record and 9-9 in conference play. Coastal Carolina won its third straight game to improve to 19-12 and 11-7 in league play.
Cliff Davis finished with 25 points, his fourth straight 20-point game.
Justin McBride finished with 12 points and led the Dukes with seven boards, while
Bradley Douglas scored 11 points.
Beadle finished with 29 points, including the game-winning shot. AJ Dancler scored 20 points, and Nadjrick Peat finished with six points and led the Chanticleers with 10 rebounds.
How It Happened
First Half: James Madison 33, Coastal Carolina 31
- Each team traded buckets back and forth to start the game, until a Ricks three-pointer was able to bring the Dukes a 17-14 lead at the 10:36 mark.
- After both teams traded buckets, the Dukes were able to build up a five-point lead (27-22) due to a put-back dunk by Brown, with just over four minutes in the half.
- Coastal was able to fight back due to Dancler hitting two free throws, cutting the score to 33-31 at the break.
Second Half: Coastal Carolina 69, James Madison 68
- The Dukes came out of the break hot; a three pointer from Davis built their lead to seven (42-35) at the 16:02 mark.
- Coastal wasted no time storming back to a six-point lead, using an 11-0 run to go ahead 50-44 with 10:33 left. H
- However, a layup and free throws by Davis followed by a jumper by McBride allowed the Duke to tie the game at 50 with 8:46 remaining.
- Both teams remained neck and neck, until a Newhof layup gave the Dukes the lead at 68-67 with under a minute to play.
- However, Coastal's Beadle made a jumper as time expired to win the game 69-68.

- Cliff Davis hit three 3-pointers, bringing his season total to 97. He is now third on the JMU single-season threes list, four behind Kent Culuko (101, 1993-94).
- Davis has scored in double figures in 14 straight games, including four straight 20-point games. On the season, Davis has seven 20-point outings.
