PENSACOLA, Fla. – No. 9 seed James Madison got 21 points from Cliff Davis and 20 from Justin McBride to dispatch 12th-seeded Louisiana, 87-72, on Wednesday night to advance to the Third Round of the 2026 Visit Pensacola Sun Belt Men's Basketball Championship.
JMU (18-14) will play No. 8 seed Southern Miss on Thursday, March 5, at 6 p.m. ET (5 p.m. CT) Â in the Third Round of the Sun Belt Championship on ESPN+.
Davis' 21 points marked the guard's fifth straight 20-point game, while McBride logged 20 for the 11th time this year while also grabbing a team-leading eight rebounds. Bradley Douglas grabbed 18 points, while Eli Wilborn scored a season-high eight points while also hauling in five rebounds.
JMU controlled the glass, outrebounding Louisiana 41-23 in the contest. The Dukes also recorded 5 points in the paint and finished 20-of-26 (.770) from the free throw line.
Jaxon Olvera (28) and Dorian Finister (27) scored 55 of Louisiana's 72 points, but no other Cajun finished in double figures. Louisiana finished with just four assists.
