HARRISONBURG, Va. – Three former James Madison baseball players have been selected to compete in the 2026 MLB Spring Breakout event, as announced on Thursday.
JMU will be represented by Chase DeLauter (Cleveland Guardians), Jason Schiavone (Houston Astros) and Fenwick Trimble (Miami Marlins).
The third annual Spring Breakout event will be played from March 19-22 and will showcase baseball's future stars in exhibition games across Spring Training sites. The event will span four days and 16 games
DeLauter made his Major League debut in the American League Wild Card Series last season and is MLB Pipeline's 46th ranked prospect, while being the second highest ranked prospect in the Cleveland organization.
Trimble is Miami's 20th ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline, as he had advanced to the Double-A level last year and received a non-roster invite to Spring Training this season.
Schiavone has reached the High-A level in the Houston organization after spending the majority of 2025 at its Single-A affiliate.
The final Spring Breakout rosters that will consist of 23-27 players will be announced on March 18 by MLB.
