NEW ORLEANS – James Madison's
Kendra Lewis was named the Sun Belt Conference Softball Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Lewis becomes the first Duke to earn a weekly award this season.
The junior helped lead the Dukes to a series sweep of Louisiana, where Lewis batted 5-for-7 (.714) with an OPS of 1.714. She tallied six RBIs and five runs scored across the series, and added a double and a pair of home runs. Lewis was a constant threat of getting on base, reaching base safely on seven of her nine plate appearances.
Across the Sun Belt, Lewis ranks first in slugging percentage (.952) and on-base percentage (.571), second in batting average (.458), ninth in doubles (11) and tenth in home runs (10).
James Madison returns to action later today, April 14, with a midweek matchup at the Georgetown. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
