HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison volleyball posted another efficient outing, hitting .317 to sweep Loyola Maryland (25-19, 25-17, 25-15) inside the Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Dukes (2-0) produced 10 blocks and nine service aces to thwart the Greyhounds (0-2), holding them to a .052 hitting percentage.

Kennedy Louisell finished with a double-double of 17 kills and 11 digs, leading all players in both categories. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native recorded a hitting percentage of .483 – tied for the third-highest clip of her career with at least 10 kills.

Addie Norman and Anna Wilson each tallied 5.0 blocks, while Ayen Nhial had 3.0 blocks, including two solo blocks. Lindsey Large recorded a game-best 16 assists, followed by Grace Wenrich with 12. Sydney Lewis chipped in with 16 digs, marking her 16th career match with double-digit digs.

Once again, Addie Lowe led Loyola offensively with nine kills, while Gabi Verdicchio had 15 assists in the loss.

How It Happened
First Set – JMU 25, Loyola Maryland 19

The Greyhounds came out strong and built a 5-1 advantage to open the match.
JMU bounced back with five blocks during a 10-2 run to take a 15-11 lead and force a Loyola timeout.
The Dukes held off a late rally by producing a 3-0 scoring spurt of their own to win the set 25-19.

Second Set – JMU 25, Loyola Maryland 17

JMU used five aces to help propel itself to a 25-17 victory in set two, which featured only one lead change.

Third Set – JMU 25, Loyola Maryland 15

The Dukes erased Loyola's 5-3 edge with a 7-0 run that featured three-straight service aces by Louisell and cruised through the remainder of the set.

Match Notes

The Dukes posted back-to-back sweeps for the first time since defeating Delaware State (Sept. 20) and William & Mary (Sept. 21) during the 2021 campaign.
Additionally, this weekend marked the first time JMU has opened the season with consecutive sweeps since recording three straight to begin the 2010 season.
James Madison held an advantage in digs (41-27), kills (38-28), blocks (10-2), and service aces (9-5).
Louisell has registered double-digit kills in 33 consecutive matches, doing so in every match as a Duke. Moreover, today's performance was her 26th with at least 15 kills and her 19th with 20 or more points.
