CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Despite battling to the end, James Madison volleyball (2-2, 0-0) fell to Colorado State (2-2, 0-0) 3-1 in neutral-site, non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
The Dukes and Rams saw 17 tie scores and seven lead changes throughout the contest, including the overall 1-1 split after two sets, before CSU ultimately pulled ahead of JMU.
JMU held a block party at the net, notching 19 blocks against Colorado State. The effort was led by Ayen Nhial with 10 blocks, her first double-digit performance of the season. Addie Norman chipped in eight blocks, tying for second-most blocks on the day with Anna Wilson, who notched a season best (8) mark. Ella Grace Holloway tied her career high with six blocks.
Offensively, Kennedy Louisell led the way with 16 kills while Norman (10) and Holloway (8) each had season-high marks. The Dukes finished the day hitting .233 (47-16-133) while they held the Rams to a .241 hitting percentage (60-27-137).
JMU continues its stretch on the road this week, heading to Bowling Green, Ky., for the Alyssa Cavanaugh Classic. The Dukes will face Eastern Kentucky (Sept. 10), Western Kentucky (Sept. 11) and Pepperdine (Sept. 12).
