Robert Lent returns to the JMU coaching staff as a volunteer assistant after joining in July of 2009. Before joining the Dukes, he was an assistant track and field coach at Stuarts Draft High School in Stuarts Draft, Va.
At the high school level, Lent coached three national qualifiers, an All-American, a state champion and state runner-up in the high jump, two district champions and two runner-ups in both shot put and high jump, and also helped coach numerous All-Region, and All-District athletes.
Lent is a 2004 graduate of Stuarts Draft High School. As an athlete, Lent ran both cross country and track and field, throwing the shot put and discus and participating in various track events. He was awarded the sports' highest award, the Cougar Award, for personal achievement and success in 2002.
Robert is both a USATF level one certified coach and a USATF certified official, entering his third year of experience in officiating field events on the national level.
Lent currently attends Blue Ridge Community College and is aiming to transfer into JMU in the fall of 2011 to pursue a Health and Physical Education degree.
