Jessica Hussey, a four-year starter (2002-05) in goal for the Dukes, joins the JMU soccer staff as a student assistant coach for the 2006 season.  Hussey was named to the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region third team, the All-Colonial Athletic Association second team, and the all-state (VaSID) second team as a senior in 2005. That year her season goals-against average of 0.912 ranked as the second-best all-time at JMU behind Cheryl Carr's 1991 school-record 0.901. She was voted the team's defensive most valuable player for the third consecutive year.  She holds JMU career goalkeeper records for complete-game shutouts (21), saves (370), games played (85), games started (84) and minutes played (7682:29). Her 29 total career shutouts (21 solo, 8 shared) tied the school career record set by Stacey Bilodeau (1994-97). Hussey's career goals-against average of 1.35 is second-best all-time at JMU behind Carr's (1991-94) school-record 1.13.  The two-time team captain set a school season record with eight solo and 10 overall (solo and shared) shutouts in 2002. As a freshman she also established freshman season records for saves, minutes played, games started and games played.  A native of Kanata, Ontario, Hussey was the reserve goalkeeper on the Canada National Team that was runner-up to United States (losing 1-0 in overtime) in the inaugural FIFA Under-19 World Championship in 2002.  Hussey is completing a degree in kinesiology major with a concentration in exercise science.
