McSorley was a Third Team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association and Honorable Mention All-American by Soccer News his senior year after leading the Dukes to their fourth straight NCAA Tournament and second straight NCAA Quarterfinals appearance. One of five JMU soccer players named to the CAA 25th Anniversary Team, he led JMU to a 73-14-6 record and three CAA titles over his four-year career (1992-95). In 1994, he scored the game-winning goal against North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament as assisted on the game winner against Duke. He set a JMU season record for goals by a freshman with 10, including earning CAA Player of the Week in the first week of his college career after a hat trick in the Dukes' 4-0 upset at sixth-ranked Wake Forest. He still owns the school records for goals at 42 and points with 103, while ranking 14th in school history with 19 career assists.
