HARRISONBURG, Va., Sept. 30, 2005 – Three
James Madison (1-1-0, 6-4-0) players scored to lift the Dukes to a 3-0 shutout of visiting
Towson (0-2-0, 5-3-1) in Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer Friday night at the JMU Soccer Complex.
JMU's first goal came in the 16th minute, when senior
Kim Argy (Oak Hill, Va./Chantilly) knocked a rebound off Towson sophomore goalkeeper
Kendie Bauer (Fallston, Md./Fallston) into the goal. Bauer had stopped a hard shot by freshman
Teri Maykoski (Fairfax, Va./Robinson), but the ball then bounced out to Argy, who scored on a five-yard shot.
JMU pushed its lead to 2-0 on a 20-yard shot by sophomore
Laura Hertz (Newport News, Va./Woodside) in the 23rd minute. Hertz got possession of the ball from a Towson defender, and dribbled a few feet before drilling a shot into the goal.
Senior
Karly Skladany's (Westerville, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) header in the opening two minutes of the second half completed the scoring. She scored on a rebound off a shot by senior
Emily Baskin (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) that hit the crossbar.
Argy's goal gave her 28 for her career, moving her into a tie for sixth place on the Dukes' all-time scoring list. It was also her 14th career game-winning goal, giving her sole possession of the school record. She had previously shared the record of 13 with Jamie Dykes (1991-94).
Bauer, a Towson lacrosse player making her first appearance for the Tigers' soccer team, finished with four saves.  JMU senior goalkeeper
Jessica Hussey (Kanata, Ontario/Holy Trinity) made one save in 80 minutes and shared the shutout with senior
Amanda Hutchings (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County).
