FAIRFAX, Va., Oct. 28, 2006 ? James Madison University's women's swimming and diving team was defeated by George Mason University 137-106 in their Colonial Athletic Association conference opener Saturday afternoon.
The Dukes were led by senior Allison Keel (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) and sophomore Ashton Goodwillie (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin), who racked up two wins a piece.
Keel finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.70 and won the 100-yard freestyle in 52.64.
Goodwillie captured a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:51.92 and slipped past teammate, and fellow sophomore, Jessica Lee (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) to win the 200-yard butterfly in 2:11.02.
Madison drops to 0-2 for the season. The Dukes next meet is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4 in Wilmington, N.C. where they will face CAA opponents UNC Wilmington and Towson. |
