HARRISONBURG, Va., Sept.14, 2006 -- James Madison junior Annie Lowry (Butler, Pa./Butler) celebrated her 21st birthday by contributing a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over George Washington Thursday night at the JMU Soccer Complex.
JMU, which won for the third time in its last four games, improved to 3-4-0. GW dropped to 4-3-0.
The Dukes led 1-0 at halftime after senior Sarah Cebulski (Manotick, Ontario/St. Mark's) scored in the 18th minute. Freshman Jess Remmes (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) sent a pass ahead to Cebulski, who got by GW red-shirt sophomore goalkeeper Amie Kern (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) and knocked in an eight-yard shot on an open net.
Just 1:19 into the second half, Lowry received a pass from senior Natalie Ewell (Richmond, Va./James River) and hit a six-yard shot to the left corner of the goal to give the Dukes a 2-0 advantage.Â
Lowry, who turned 21 on Wednesday, started the play that gave JMU its third goal of the night. She passed to ball to Ewell near the end line, and Ewell crossed the ball in front of the goal to freshman Corky Julien (Williamstown, Ontario/Char-Lan District), who scored from four yards out.  Julien's score came in the 66th minute.
