LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 10, 2007 -- James Madison senior DenaSpickard (Marion, Va./Marion) and sophomoreJessicaPropst (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) led the Dukes in the NCAA Southeast Region Women's Cross Country Championships hosted Saturday by Louisville.
Spickard completed the 6,000-meter race in 21 minutes, 39.9 seconds and placed 45th.Propst followed right behind Spickard, finishing 46th with a time of 21:40.3.
North Carolina's Brianna Felnaglewas the race winner in 19:52.2, more than seven seconds ahead of second-place finisher Emily Harrison of Virginia, who was clocked in 20:00.0.
North Carolina State won the team championship with 106 points and was followed by Duke (114), North Carolina (124), Kentucky (141), Virginia Tech (155) and Virginia (166).
JMU finished 12th in the 31-team field with 310 points.There were 225 runners who completed the race.
Other JMU runners included sophomore Alison Parris (Saint Leonard, Md./Patuxent), 51st in 21:43.3; senior Michelle Beardmore(Front Royal, Va./Warren County), 68th in 22:01.7; junior Aspen Foster(Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox), 109th in 22:40.9; sophomore Emily Hellmuth (Arlington, Va./Yorktown), 128th in 22:57.4; sophomore Amber Lussier(Stafford, Va./North Stafford), 140th in 23:06.2.
