BOCA RATON, Fla., Feb. 24, 2007 ? Freshman Brittney Dyson's (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) double in the bottom of the first scored two RBIs and was enough for the Dukes to defeat Jacksonville 2-1.

Jacksonville put up the first run of the game in the top of the first when Ashley Mora's single scored teammate Sara Gordon and gave the Dolphins a 1-0 lead.

The Dukes struck back in the bottom of the first.

Senior Katie George (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) led off the inning with a double to center. Junior Jenn Chavez (Upland, Calif., Upland) singled with one out and advanced to second on the throw. George advanced to third.

Dyson doubled with two outs, scoring both George and Chavez. The hit gave JMU a 2-1 lead that would stick.

Freshman Branden Moss (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal) anchored the defense and pitched a complete game for the Dukes giving up one run, on eight hits, and striking out five.
