HARRISONBURG, Va., March 22, 2008 ? Junior left-hander Shannon Outman threw a complete-game and junior third baseman Amber Kirk hit her fourth home run this season, but the Dukes lost 3-1 to Hofstra in Colonial Athletic Association play Saturday.
The Dukes dropped to 1-2 in conference and 14-13 overall this season, while six-time defending CAA champion Hofstra improved to 2-1 in conference, and 15-8 overall.
Madison got the lone run off HU starter Kayleigh Lotti in the bottom of the fourth. Kirk finished the day with two hits, a run scored and an RBI to lead JMU. She just missed going 3-for-3 when her first-inning liner down the left-field line landed inches foul.

The Hofstra right-hander picked up her sixth win of the season and her second in two days against the Dukes. She threw a complete game, allowing
