ORLANDO, Fla. – James Madison closed out the UCF Knights Invitational with a 8-3 win over Rutgers Sunday afternoon. The Dukes tallied a 4-1 record across the opening weekend, taking home the Invitational title, while Rutgers fell to 0-5.
Sophomore pitcher
Megan Good (2-1) picked up the win across 5.1 innings, giving up to two hits and one walk.
Senior
Jailyn Ford led the Dukes with four RBI's, with three coming on a home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the first inning that gave her sole possession of the all-time career home run record at JMU.
In the fourth inning, sophomore
Morgan Tolle opened the three-run frame with a sacrifice fly to right, scoring senior left fielder
Hannah Hayes from third. Junior
Madyson Moran then scored on an error and Field scored on a single to right field from Ford.
Junior
Niki Prince ripped a double to left-center to push junior
Taylor Newton across in the sixth.
JMU recorded 11 hits on the day and committed no errors in the field.

RECORD BREAKINGSenior first baseman Jailyn Ford became JMU's all-time career home run record holder with a shot over the left field fence, giving JMU a 4-1 lead in the first inning. Ford currently sits at 36 career home runs, passing Ashley Burnham (2009-12) with 35.FRESHMEN FIRSTDesignated hitter
Jenny Behan recorded her first hit as a Duke with a single through the left side in the bottom of the third.

Jessica McCabe made her first appearance in the circle for JMU at the top of the fifth.
