LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 13 James Madison field hockey used a pair of second-half goals to win 2-0 over Ball State, snapping a two-game losing-streak and moving to 6-2 overall.

Junior Miranda Rigg extended her team lead in goals (7) by scoring off a corner deflection just over five minutes into the second half. Sophomore Lisa Lejeune scored her third goal of the season, and first since Sept. 1, to double the JMU lead.

HOW WE GOT HERE

Miranda Rigg broke the stalemate, deflecting in a hard hit from Lisa Lejeune off a penalty corner in the 41st minute of play.
Lejeune tallied her own goal 15 minutes later when Rigg passed the ball in from the middle of the circle to the right side of the cage.

NUMBERS OF NOTE

JMU earned 13 corners against Ball State, the most for the Dukes since taking 14 against Towson on Oct. 1, 2016.
The Dukes outshot the Cardinals 15-4 with an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal.

KEEPING TRACK
Miranda Rigg has scored 31 goals in her career. She ranks 19th all-time and is five goals away from cracking the top 15.

SERIES STATS
JMU tightened the all-time series to a 5-4 lead for Ball State. This was the sixth neutral-site meeting between the two programs, with the Dukes earning their second victory in those games.
