Hofstra Edges Field Hockey

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – James Madison field hockey was edged 1-0 in a road game on Friday afternoon. The Dukes fall to 1-2 in league play with three games left in the regular season.

JMU (5-9, 1-2) controlled the ball throughout the game including nine corners in the first half alone. The Dukes did not allow Hofstra () to take a shot until 15 minutes into play. While the Pride may have only taken six shots, they capitalized off one of their two corners.

67:58 | Cami Larsson scored her sixth goal of the season and the game-winner off the Pride's second corner of the game. Madison Suave inserted the ball while Madison Reed had the stick stop.

- Hofstra's one shot in the first half is the least since they allowed 0 against Lafayette on Sept. 3, 2017. They have allowed just one shot two other times since the Lafayette game.
- This marks JMU's third shutout of the season and first loss at Hofstra since 2011
- The Dukes 20 shots are tied for the most taken this season in a game
- Hofstra's six shots allowed are the least since allowing five against Towson (Oct. 29, 2017)
- The Prides two corners are the least for a JMU opponent since Ball State was awarded just one on Sept. 22, 2017
