Prior to Sunday's contest against Saint Francis, James Madison field hockey will honor seven seniors –
Alicia Cooperman,
Cassie Hunter,
Megan Guzzardi,
Emilly Schutt,
Miranda Rigg,
Erica Royal and
Kyler Zampiello. Fans are encouraged to be at the game by 11:45 a.m. to enjoy the senior day ceremonies.
The JMU field hockey class of 2019 has contributed to 51 program wins, including eight over top-25 opponents, two CAA title games and the 2015 CAA regular-season championship. The seven have continued to promote the JMU name in a positive way because of their commitment to greatness, their perseverance and their passion, leaving their individual marks on the JMU field hockey program.

ALICIA COOPERMAN
#2 | M | 5-2 | Zionsville, Pa.
Alicia Cooperman has been a great representation of JMU field hockey since she first put on the Purple and Gold. She made her collegiate debut against Longwood on August 30, 2016. Cooperman tallied her first goal against App State on September 1, 2017, which was also the game-winning goal. She made her first defensive save this season in the win over No. 22 Old Dominion on September 22, 2019. She has played in 46 games throughout her four years with the Dukes. She has been the SAAC Vice President and is currently the SAAC President. Cooperman is the CAA national representative to the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She has been an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction each season of eligibility. With her nursing major with Spanish and chronic illness minors, Cooperman plans to become a trauma or NICU nurse after graduation.
CASSIE HUNTER
#4 | F/M | 5-5 | Exton, Pa.
Cassie Hunter brings an amazing energy to JMU field hockey every day. She made her collegiate debut in a start against No. 13 Liberty on August 26, 2016. She appeared in 20 games and made 16 starts to find herself on the CAA All-Rookie Team. She has dished out five assists over her four seasons including one this year in JMU's win over Hofstra on October 13. She was named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad two seasons. Hunter has played in 70 games making 59 starts over her four years in the midfield, playing over 2,000 minutes. As a health science pre-occupational therapy major she plans to attend grad school to her Masters in Occupational Therapy.
MEGAN GUZZARDI
#17 | M/D | Pittsburgh, Pa.
Megan Guzzardi holds the passion to play JMU field hockey and represents the Purple and Gold every day. After redshirting her freshman season, she made her collegiate debut in a start against No. 13 Liberty on August 26, 2016. She scored her first career goal in a win over Towson on October 29, 2017. Last year, she notched her first defensive save against Buckenll on August 26, 2018. Guzzardi made a defensive save in three-straight games for the longest consecutive streak since 2000, when Whitney Diebolt had it in four games. She led the team with five defensive saves during the 2018 season, which was 10
th best in the nation. She scored a goal and dished out an assist in the win over Hofstra this season on October 13. She has played in 49 games and made 28 starts. As a major in health science with a minor in pre-physician assistant and biology, she will be pursuing a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at her top choice, Chatham University, after her graduation in December.
EMILLY SCHUTT
#19 | F | Vestal, N.Y.
Emilly Schutt represents JMU field hockey on the field, off the field and in the classroom as one of the captains. She made her collegiate debut against Longwood on August 30, 2016. Schutt scored her first career goal in a win over Hofstra on October 22, 2017. She dished out two assists in the Dukes win against Georgetown this season on September 8. She has played in 50 games making 29 starts for JMU. As a biology major, Emilly is going to go on and complete a master's degree in marine biology.
MIRANDA RIGG
#6 | F/M | Fredericksburg, Va.
Miranda Rigg is a great example and difference maker for JMU field hockey. She first stepped on the field on August 28, 2015 against No. 13 Liberty and earned All-CAA Rookie Team honors for her efforts during the season. She has been a two-time NFHCA Second Team All-South Region, VaSID Second Team All-State, ECAC All-Star selection and two-time All-CAA First Team selection. She currently sits in eighth all-time with 44 career goals scored and eighth all-time with 99 career points. Miranda is set to graduate with a Sports and Recreation management degree with minors in business and coaching education.
ERICA ROYAL
#20 | D | Richmond, Va.
Erica Royal has shown her commitment to JMU Field Hockey every day since she first put on the Purple & Gold. She is a three-time NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad member and has been placed on the Dean's List each semester of eligibility. On the field, she has played in 33 games for the Dukes, including stepping up and playing goalkeeper for the Dukes game at William & Mary and at Richmond. Royal has shown she will do whatever she can to help the program. She has played in 33 games for JMU and had made three starts including her start in goal against Richmond. With her degree in finance and minors in both Spanish and Chinese, Erica plans to work as an investment analyst.
KYLER ZAMPIELLO
#28 | GK | Chantilly, Va.
Kyler Zampiello came back to help JMU field hockey which shows her commitment and dedication to the program. She made her collegiate debut in a 12-0 victory over Towson on October 1, 2016, which was a combined shutout, the largest victory in series history. She registered her first solo shutout this season against Drexel on October 11. She has played in 21 games for JMU, making b starts in goal. Over her four years she has made 47 saves for a .671 save percentage. Zampiello has picked up three wins in goal including two this season, against Drexel and Hofstra. Her 11 saves at Delaware on October 8, 2017 was a career-high in saves. She is currently in her first year of JMU's two-year Human resources grad program.
