- James Madison will look to bounce back in its final game of the 2019 calendar year on Monday evening, as the Dukes welcome defending Colonial Athletic Association champion Northeastern to the Convocation Center for a 7 p.m. tip in Harrisonburg.
- The Dukes opened league play this past Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center, dropping a hard-fought 82-76 decision to preseason league favorite Hofstra. Junior guard Matt Lewis racked up 22 points in the loss, while junior forward Dwight Wilson posted his fourth double-double in five games with 12 points and 11 boards.
- Heading into the Dukes' second CAA matchup, Lewis leads the offensive charge with 18.1 points per game, while junior Darius Banks is adding 13.2 points per contest and junior Dwight Wilson is averaging a double-double at 10.4 points and 10.4 boards.
- Lewis is also the only CAA player to rank in the league's top six for all three of points per game, rebounds per game (7.0) and assists per game (4.6). He and sophomore guard Deshon Parker lead the league in assist-to-turnover ratio at exactly 2.0.
- The Dukes were tabbed to finish fourth in the preseason poll of the league's coaches and media members, earning three first-place votes along the way in one of the closest preseason polls in league history.
- Heading into the season, JMU welcomed a six-member freshman class, including forward Michael Christmas, Dalton Jefferson and Julien Wooden, as well as guards Zyon Dobbs, Jayvis Harvey and Quinn Richey.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- Northeastern, which captured its second Colonial Athletic Association title in 2018-19 and was picked to finish third in the league this year. The Huskies have opened the year with a 7-6 mark and picked up a 61-45 win over Towson on Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY
- Monday evening's matchup will be the 28th between Northeastern and James Madison, with all but two games coming since the Huskies joined the CAA for the 2005-06 season, despite the first-ever meeting between the two schools taking place in Harrisonburg back on Dec. 3, 1977. Northeastern holds a commanding 20-7 lead in the series, including a 9-3 advantage in Harrisonburg.
- Last season, the Huskies swept the Dukes on the year, picking up a 78-68 win at the Convocation Center on Jan. 26 before cruising to a 76-60 victory in Boston on Feb. 21 to push their winning streak over JMU to four games.
- When the two teams met in January at the Convo, Northeastern built a 15-point second-half lead before holding off a furious charge from the Dukes, as then-sophomore Matt Lewis tallied 17 points in the 78-68 loss.
