JMU Out-Plays Northeastern for a 3-2 Win

HARRISONBURG, Va.- The James Madison field hockey team came out on top over Northeastern 3-2 to begin Colonial Athletic Association play Friday evening at the JMU Field Hockey Complex.

The Dukes improved to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in CAA play while the Huskies fell to 3-7 and 0-1 in CAA play.

Diede Remijnse, a junior, registered the first multi-goal game of her career, putting JMU on the board with the first goal and later solidified the win with the third goal in the second quarter. Eveline Zwager also scored for the Dukes, her CAA-leading eighth of the season.Â

The JMU defense was strong, only allowing five shots and two penalty corners. The Dukes out-shot Northeastern 11-5 and had a corner advantage of 9-2.

The last few minutes the Dukes proved to be a force to be reckoned with when Northeastern subbed out their goalie. Though Northeastern got a goal off of the play, they were unable to catch up to JMU.
