HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison received 38 points from its bench to roll past Queens (N.C.) Sunday afternoon inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
 
JMU (2-1) made 33-of-63 (52.4%) from the field, scoring 37 points in the paint while holding the Royals (2-1) to 16-of-53 (30.5%), including 1-for-16 (6.3%) in the third quarter.
 
Senior guard
 Kiki Jefferson was a force, registering 21 points in 21 minutes of action. Junior center 
Kseniia Kozlova scored a career-high 13 points, while freshman forward 
Kadidia Toure recorded four baskets for 10 points. Additionally, the freshman led the team with a career-best three steals. The Dukes saw four players pull down seven rebounds: Jefferson, Kozlova, and juniors 
Claire Neff and 
Amira Williams. 
 
How It Happened
	- The Dukes started hot, jumping out to a 7-0 lead through the game's first three minutes.
 
	- Hazell and Jefferson each produced six points in the opening quarter to make it 19-13 JMU.
 
	- James Madison expanded its lead in the second period thanks to a late 10-2 run. Fourteen of the team's 25 second-quarter points came from Jefferson and Kozlova, as the team headed into the locker room up 44-28.
 
	- The Dukes Madison put the foot on the gas in the third, wrapping up the quarter with a 20-2 run to make it a 66-32 game. The defense was especially strong, swatting four Royals' shots.
 
	- Toure (6) and fellow freshmen Chloe Sterling (5) and Mya Koné (5) combined for 16 in the final quarter to roll past Queens (N.C), 89-48.
 
 
Game Notes
	- James Madison now leads the all-time series 1-0 against the Royals.
 
	- With a 21-point performance tonight, Jefferson has scored at least 20 points in six straight outings, extending her streak from last season. Moreover, the streak is the longest of her career.
 
	- Germond's five assists are a season-best and the best individual performance by any Duke this season. Moreover, JMU tallied a season-high 14 total assists in the contest.
 
	- The Dukes dominated the boards 51-31, grabbing 18 offensive rebounds. The team has won the rebounding battle in each of their first three games and boasts an average margin of +21.
 
	- Kozlova finished in double figures for the third consecutive game and has sunk 13-of-20 (65.0%) from the field so far this season.
 
	- JMU's 52.4% shooting mark from the field is the program's first time shooting 50% or better since making 29-of-53 (54.7%) baskets last season against UNCW on Feb. 20.
 
	- James Madison had four blocks from four players in the third quarter. Coming into the quarter, JMU hadn't recorded four blocks all season.
 
	- Koné made her season debut, finishing with a stat line of five points, 1-for-1 from deep, and one assist in 10 minutes.
 
	- With 80 points at Millersville (Nov. 9) and 89 versus Queens (N.C.), the Dukes have scored 80-plus in back-to-back games for the first time since 2020. That season, the team defeated Northeastern 86-64 (Feb. 21) and Hofstra 89-52 (Feb. 23).
