- James Madison will remain at home on the weekend, welcoming in-state foe William & Mary to the Atlantic Union Bank Center for a 4 p.m. matchup on Saturday afternoon.
- The Dukes fell to 13-10 on Thursday night, dropping a 70-66 decision to Elon at home. Four players scored in double figures for JMU, led by 17 from redshirt sophomore Julien Wooden and redshirt junior Vado Morse, but the Dukes couldn't hold off a second-half charge from the Phoenix.
- Morse leads JMU on offense with 16.0 points per game this season, which ranks second in the league. Morse is averaging 20.8 points per game in league play, and has eclipsed 17 points in 11 of 12 conference tilts. He has also made at least three triples in every conference game but one this season.
- James Madison ranks 39th in the nation and second in the league with a 47.2% field goal percentage so far this season. Among players with at least 50 field goal attempts, a pair of active Dukes - redshirt freshman Justin Amadi (.642) and graduate transfer Alonzo Sule (.596) are shooting nearly 60% from the field.
- After missing a lengthy stretch due to injury, redshirt freshman Tyree Ihenacho has returned to action in strong fashion, filling up the stat sheet by averaging 4.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.0 steals across his four games back.After giving up at least 80 regulation points in six of their first eight contests, the Dukes have held all four of its last opponents below 80 in regulation, though Hofstra eclipsed the 80-point mark in overtime on Saturday.
SCOUTING THE TRIBE
- The Tribe enter Saturday having lost three in a row to fall to 5-20 (4-8) on the season and have just one true road win this year, having bested Drexel on Jan. 22, 83-75.
- Sophomore guard Connor Kochera leads William & Mary on offense, averaging 11.8 points per contest, while graduate student Brandon Carroll has racked up 12.3 points per game in league play, most on the team.
- William & Mary currently ranks among the 15 youngest teams in the country, according to KenPom.
SERIES HISTORY
- Saturday will mark the 102nd all-time meeting between the Tribe and Dukes, the most meetings of any team in JMU program history.
- Earlier this season, the Dukes erased a 23-point first-half deficit to earn a 95-91 overtime win, marking the largest comeback win on record at JMU. Redshirt freshman Justin Amadi led the way, piling up a career-high 24 points and 10 rebounds.
- The Dukes are looking for their first home win over W&M since a 95-92 overtime victory on Feb. 16, 2017.
