Â
The Dukes improved to 25-17 overall and 11-9 in Sun Belt Conference games, marking the fastest they've reached 25 wins since 37 games in 2011. The Jaguars dropped to 24-18 (9-11 Sun Belt).

Junior Fenwick Trimble led the Dukes at the plate by falling a triple shy of the cycle, recording a career-high-tying four hits in six at-bats with an RBI, a homer, two doubles and a season-high-tying three runs. Graduate Donovan Burke improved to 5-0 on the mound, going 6.2 innings with three strikeouts and no walks while giving up just two runs.
Â
How It Happened
First Inning
South Alabama took the lead three batters into the home half of the first with a solo homer.
Â
Fourth Inning
JMU tied the game on graduate Brendan O'Donnell's double to score sophomore Wyatt Peifer before O'Donnell would score to give the Dukes a 2-1 lead on a single from freshman Kyle Langley.
Â
Fifth Inning
The Dukes hit three doubles in the inning, with runs scoring on the two-baggers from junior Jason Schiavone and Peifer for a 4-1 lead.
Â
Sixth Inning
O'Donnell led off the sixth with his 12th long ball of the season for a 5-1 lead.
Â
Seventh Inning
The 2024 hitters for JMU moved into a tie for ninth in program history for single-season home runs as Trimble and sophomore Mike Mancini began the inning with back-to-back homers. The tail end of the back-to-back represented the 62nd home run of the year hit by the Dukes and gave them a 7-1 lead.
Â
A single up the middle stopped the run of JMU runs for South Alabama to make the score 7-2.
Â
Eighth Inning
With bases loaded, Schiavone drew a walk to add a run before Peifer singled in a pair of runs for a 10-2 JMU lead.
Â
Ninth Inning
USA scored a final run on a single to make the score 10-3.
