HARRISONBURG, Va. – Trips to Puerto Rico and eight states highlight the 2024-25 James Madison men's golf schedule, as Head Coach Carter Cheves announced on Thursday afternoon.
The season begins with a trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate at the Grand Dunes Golf Club on Sept. 8-10. The Dukes will close out a busy September with the JT Poston Intercollegiate (Sept. 15-17) and the Virtues Intercollegiate (Sept. 28-29).Â
JMU will close out its fall portion of the season at the Redhawk Intercollegiate (Oct. 14-15) in Pittsburgh and the Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville, S.C. (Oct. 19-20).
After a three-month hiatus, the Dukes will kick off their spring slate in Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico for the Dorado Beach Intercollegiate (Feb. 23-25). Following the trip to Puerto Rico, JMU will head west for the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate (March 8-9) in Scottsdale, Ariz., and cap off the month of March with the Seahawk Intercollegiate (March 24-25). Â
A trip to Fort Myers, Fla., on April 7-8 for the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate and JMU's third straight trip to the Mountaineer Invitational will close out the regular season for the Dukes. For the third straight season, the 2025 Sun Belt Championship returns to Annandale Golf Course in Madison, Miss., on April 21-24.
Senior Daniel Cheng headlines returnees from the 2023-24 roster after he posted 71.97 stroke average in his junior campaign, the fourth-best in school history. The junior tandem of Václav Tichý and Owen Kose look to build off solid campaigns, as Tichý posted a career-best 73.28 stroke average and Kose played in 27 rounds. The Dukes also welcome four newcomers to Harrisonburg - René Bergendi (Slovakia), Tommy McKenzie (Idaho), Stefan Rojas (Luxembourg), and Alex Seibal (Illinois-Springfield)
