James Madison Cheerleading took home fourth-place honors in its third year competing at the FBS Division IA level at the 2025 Universal Cheerleading Association College Nationals, which took place from Jan. 17-19 at Walt Disney World.
After finishing 15th in 2024, JMU made the finals for the first time at the Division IA level in the Small Coed Game Day category, eventually placing fourth.
"I am so proud of these athletes and what they have accomplished this weekend and throughout the year," said Head Coach
Ryan Andrews. "Their conduct throughout the championship weekend was first class and they represented themselves, their families, and our university at the highest levels of sportsmanship and genuine enthusiasm. Division IA at UCA Nationals is arguably the hardest division to compete in, and we are thrilled to bring home a fourth-place finish to Harrisonburg. We are honored to have had the opportunity to represent JMU at nationals and take pride in being the only university in Virginia with a top five finish. It is so refreshing to work with a group of athletes who understand the meaning of hard work and teamwork, and they already have their eyes set on goals for next season. A very special thank you to our friends, families, and administration for being tireless supporters throughout our journey together."
The University of Minnesota was named champion of the category.
