BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
Jordyn Henderson finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 8.28 as James Madison track & field tied with Troy for 10th at the Sun Belt Indoor Championship on Tuesday night at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Texas State took home the team title with 108 points, while Southern Miss finished runner-up with 93. App State placed third with 82 points, followed by Arkansas State (66) and Louisiana (56).
Holly Mpassy also earned a podium finish – earning silver in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 54.63. Sprinter
Kaia Putman clocked in at 24.60 in the 200-meter dash for eighth to score a point for the Dukes.
How It Happened
- Henderson's time of 8.28 in the 60-meter hurdles surpassed her 8.30 clip set at last year's conference meet, achieving bronze that season. Coastal Carolina's Amanda Kinloch took home the gold in a personal-best 8.16.
- Mpassy finished second in the 400-meter dash behind Kennedi Sanders of Southern Miss who produced an effort of 54.17.
- Freshman Kylie Brooks finished ninth in the second heat 3,000-meter with a career-best time of 9:53.41 – the fastest time by a Duke this season.
